Fela Kuti, Yanni, Hugh Masekela, Angelique Kidjo, Beyonce, Sting, Kirk Whalum, Kamasi Washington

What do you want fans to take away from your music?

“Kind of Music” CD is the beginning of many great things from the depths of my African heritage, mixed with Western harmony. Join me on my journey.

How is the music scene in your locale?

The Atlanta (GA) area has a very active live music community – and a very active Jazz community. There are numerous live show venues, both small & large. We have two local Jazz radio stations. In addition, the three area college stations offer regular Jazz programming.

What is the best concert you have been to?

My first International appearance as a trumpet player at the LeZènith stage in Paris where I first met with some of my heroes like: Quincy Jones, Hugh Masekela, Sting, Andy Narell, Alicia Keys, Herbie Hancock, Joshua Redman, Roy Hargrove.

What do you like most about playing live?

The power of communicating my music to the world without language barriers.

Is there a track on your latest CD release here that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

“SALT OF THE EARTH” track two, can be called the spice of my “KIND OF MUSIC” project. The song is a typical interpretation of how my mind travels across borders when composing or arranging a piece of music, during which I accumulate ideas and would have to make creative choices on what stays or goes away.

How have you evolved as a musician/artist over the last year?

I have come to a conviction that music is my forte & in order to do things right, music lovers/people in general must come first…. then my God given skills/talents.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

Beyonce & Sting

What’s next for you in your music career?

More great music, working alongside the world’s best talent and more promotion with hopes of developing a supporting fan base worldwide. Thank you media for all of your support.
